The awards committee for the
Central Indiana Section of IEEE seeks nominations for the
annual "Engineer of the Year" and "Member of the Year" awards.
Nominations are to be submitted to the CIS-IEEE Awards Committe
at the address below (postal or e-mail). Format of nomination is open but
limited to no more than four (4) typed pages (.doc, .txt, .pdf, etc)
and no smaller than number ten (10) font.
Nominations must include both the IEEE member numbers of the
nominator and the nominee (self nominations are permissible).
Engineer of the Year evaluation criteria includes importance of
technical contributions (50%); patents, designs, papers, & technical
presentations (10%); years of technical distinction, responsible charge (10%);
service to the Institute (10%); service to the engineering profession in
professional organizations other than IEEE (5%) and recognition through awards (5%).
Member of the Year evaluation criteria includes service contributions to IEEE,
including offices held (40%); significant IEEE activities (30%);
non-IEEE activities (20%) and service to society, including civic
organizations & charities (10%).
Life time achievement will be
considered but emphasis will be on accomplishments within the year
the award is being given (approximately October of year prior through
September of the award year). Nominations should address these items in as
much detail as possible within total pages limitation. Awards are open to
all individuals holding full IEEE memberships (excluding student memberships)
and located in the Central Indiana Section. All nominations are due
by September 30, 2012. Award winners will be notified by November 1, 2012 and
awards presented at the CIS-IEEE Annual Awards Banquet on November 20, 2012.
Winners will receive two complementary banquet tickets, a plaque
inscribed with the winners name, coverage in the Reporter newsletter
and on the CIS-IEEE website and of course, the respect and admiration
of your fellow IEEE members. Award winners will also be nominated by CIS-IEEE
(nominations can be updated in the interim) for the corresponding IEEE Region
IV "Outstanding Engineer Award" and "Outstanding Member Award"
where nominations close the following March (identical evaluation
criteria are used for these awards).
Nominations/applications for
Senior Member status are additionally encouraged through the
National IEEE organization
(http://www.ieee.org/organizations/rab/md/smprogram.html). The website provides
requirements and application forms for members interested in applying.
Members attaining this level during the year will be presented a
"Senior Member" plaque at the awards ceremony and coverage in the
Reporter and on the CIS-IEEE website.
