    1. Report on Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (Edward Berbari):  held two meetings last year. First meeting was held on Purdue campus in West Layayette with technical presentation "Cell-based Biosensors" by Ann Rundell, visiting Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering. Second meeting was held on IUPUI campus with technical presentation on "Electro-therapies for Cardiac Arrhythmias" by Edward Berbari, IUPUI Director of Biomedical Engineering. Plan an organizational meeting in late spring (elect officers, etc) and society will sponsor meetings during the year. Meeting announcement will be made to full membership.
    2. Swarm Intelligence Symposium:  coming in spring. Russ Eberhardt closely associated with group. Neural Network may be approaching society status in IEEE.
    3. Region IV Ex Comm Meeting:  Alan will attend upcoming Region IV Ex Comm meeting and report back to CIS Ex Comm.
    4. Annual Reports for Finance and Society Activity:  due in February (2/21). Bill working on Financial Report and I will complete activity reports with input from societies. Officers report also due and Alan will be completing this.
    5. Power Engineering/Industrial Applications Society:  Mike Darnell has assumed the Power Engineering Society/Industrial Applications Society chair since elected chairman is unable to undertake duties. PES/IAS has banquet scheduled for spring time frame.
    6. The Reporter:  An issue of the CIS-IEEE Reporter is scheduled for release in mid February. Ross prepared an article identifying Computer Society plans for the upcoming year for this issue. Reporter issues will be targeted for Apr, Sep and Nov following the initial issue in Feb this year.
    7. Tours/Activites:  Potential tours/activites for the year were discussed - IHETS tour, Raytheon tour, Indians ball game, Clarion people mover tour/presentation, United Airlines tour, Federal Express tour, Indy 500 activity, Nachi tour, Sound Design tour, Alpine tour, Horner Electric tour, Time Warner or Simons data center tour. Nothing definitive at this time, just using to stimulate ideas at this time.
    8. Student Chapters:  As a section, we need to involve the student chapters move in our activities. Jose Ramos or Ken Reid is liason to IUPUI student branch.
    9. Engineer's Week:  No activities planned for engineer's week this year but will start planning for next year's activities in late summer.
    10. CIS Banquet:  Improve our promotion of the November "Year End" Banquet this year including requesting year end reports from societies and student branches.
    11. Society Elections:  Target the July/August time frame to begin nominations for society elections.
    12. CIS Website:  Initiative to develop society links from the CIS website.
    13. Communications:  Comunications with membership discussed, potential to cover major portion through e-mail. Reporter still will be distributed by post office.
    14. Student Activities:  Under student activities discussed sponsoring scholarships, potentially $500 for each student branch, Rose-Hulman, IUPUI and Purdue. Money turned over to school and they decide how scholarship divided. Motion was proposed by Bill and seconded by Alan.
    15. Robotics Class Kits:  Discussed funding kits for Professor Conrad's robotics class in the fall. Decided to table issue until February meeting since the class is scheduled for the Fall.
    16. Computer Society:  Ross discussed plans for a Computer Society short course on website firewalls. Planning 6 sessions over 8 weeks at a southside library. Still in feasibility/planning stages at this time.
    17. Next Meeting:  Next Ex Comm meeting scheduled for 26 February, 6 PM, IUPUI EET conf rm 209. Plan for 4th Wednesday of month remainder of year in rm 209.
